Carol LaPointe of Jewett City has been a Global Messenger for 10 years, having started when she was twenty three years old. Carol says she "loves taking part in Special Olympics events, it gives me confidence in my limited ability." Carol has been to numerous Global Messenger training sessions where she has learned skills to be a better public speaker. The best part of being a GM she says "is speaking at Opening Ceremonies and the Torch Run."

Beyond the thrill of competing with other athletes from around the state, Carol likes to meet new friends through Special Olympics Connecticut. When Carol isn't competing, practicing or working at the Big Y in Plainfield, she enjoys doing craft projects, watching movies, and playing on the computer.
