Special Olympics Connecticut Global Messenger

Jamaine Johnson

Jamaine Johnson Birth Date: June 15, 1978
Home Town: Windsor, CT
Sports: Track & Field, Swimming and Bowling

Hello, my name is Jamaine Johnson, I was born on June 15, 1978. I have participated in the Special Olympics for 20 years and have enjoyed doing so. Mostly, I have been in track and field but have competed in Swimming and have now added bowling. The best part of Special Olympics is the State Summer games. This is when we spend the week-end on a College Campus competing and parting. I have made lots of friends each year and look forward to the next. Many have been with me through the Windsor School System from 1st grade to graduation.

I graduated from Windsor High School in 1999 however, I still participated in Unified Sports mostly basketball, I love that too. Being a global messenger is good for me because, I also attend Manchester Community College and completed a course in Business and office Technology in the Supported Education Program where I joined a group of students and alumni of this program called S.T.A.N.D. which is a self advocacy group, now I have an opportunity to use all my skills, reading, talking to an audience, being a leader, (they tell me I'm shy) I am an athlete and global messenger. Thank you Connecticut Special Olympics.
