Hi, my name is Kristy DeCosta and I will tell you a bit about myself.

I have been in Special Olympics since I was 8 years old. I started in Track and Field and now I compete in Aquatics.

I love Special Olympics, but I like to do lots of other things, too. I will mention only some of them because - I have a HUGE list of things I like to do! I like to work with little kids and to help other people. Another job I have is I design and make jewelry and metal arts. Working with my hands is fun and I love working with tools. I love to water and snow ski, go hiking, ride my bike, and search for crystals. I love animals! Hanging out with my friends, and listening to music is great. I love to watch TV and movies. I can be a real couch potato. Oh Yeah!

I have great coaches that taught me to be a good sport and to always think positively. When I first started in Special Olympics, one coach taught me to believe in myself, and not give up. When I'm trying new things or I'm facing a challenge, I think of what she told me and it might help you, too. Only YOU can keep YOU from being a champion!!
