SOCTFit5 Facebook Group
This Facebook group is designed to provide athletes with tools to stay active and healthy at home and encourage them to continue training in the absence of practices and competitions. We have offered two four 8-Week Challenges to motivate athletes to stay active at home in preparation for both in-person and virtual SOCT Sports events. During the 8-week challenges, we create and post daily fitness activities such as Zumba, yoga, and strength training classes as well as healthy nutrition resources.

In addition to the SOCT Fit 5 Facebook Group, Special Olympics Connecticut has developed an online portal where all of the virtual fitness activities we have created can be accessed. This website will be updated regularly with all of the content that we have been providing athletes to stay fit and active at home. Link to access the Portal coming soon!
Special Olympics International E-Learning Portal
This resource provides free educational, interactive courses for coaches, health & wellness professionals, and educators. The Online Learning Portal creates specific learning training programs for various learning groups, including training modules, assessments, and other resources. Learners are able to track their progress and collaborate with other learners. To visit the E-learning portal, click here.
Health & Wellness E-Newsletter
The SOCT Health & Wellness weekly e-newsletter will provide athletes who do not have access to Facebook with all of the daily fitness activities that were shared each week. The Newsletter will also include health resources for coaches, parents and caregivers.
Zoom Room Cooking Classes
Special Olympics Connecticut has partnered with the University of Saint Joseph’s Nutrition and Dietetics program to provide regular healthy cooking demonstrations in our SOCT Zoom Room.
Student and faculty volunteers from the University demonstrate how to plan, measure and prepare various healthy recipes such as butternut squash soup, three bean salad and gingerbread apple muffins. All of the recordings of our previous cooking classes can be found on our SOCT Fit 5 at Home Portal under the Nutrition tab here.
