My name is Abby Snyder. I am a Health Messenger for Special Olympics Connecticut. I am going to write about exercising and why is it important.

Exercising has many health benefits because it can improve your physical health, emotional health, cognitive function, sleep habits, weight control, blood sugar and insulin level management, and it helps with quitting smoking and brain health.

The main reason why I exercise is to be more active and stay at a healthy weight. I also want to do the Torch Run for Special Olympics next year.

I have lost over 80 pounds since I joined the gym and started exercising regularly. It is important to exercise because it helps you to stay active and keep your muscles strong.

Before you start exercising you should do a dynamic warm-up because it gets your muscles used to the movement and helps to prevent injuries.

You can also ask your coach or athletic trainer to help with sport-specific exercises or rehab exercises. Rehabbing after an injury is important because it helps your muscles regain strength after they have been hurt.

If you exercise with someone you can motivate them to work toward their goal and it's fun to work out with a buddy while holding yourself accountable.

You will need to learn how to use the equipment at the gym so ask a staff member how to use it.

The last thing is that it helps you get ready for your sport by staying in shape during the off-season.

Here is a quote to help you get motivated to exercise and stay healthy - “When you feel like quitting remember when you started." I hope you understand the importance of exercising by reading my blog post.
