Members of the Connecticut Elks Association are always "on the go" to support Special Olympics Connecticut.
They held their 2nd annual migration walk fundraiser May 10th - 17th. This year, they extended the route through three states and renamed the fundraiser the “Great Elks Migration”. During the event, five Elks members walked from the Boston, Massachusetts Elks Lodge to the Westbrook, Connecticut Lodge. It was truly a valiant "120-mile, eight-day trek spanning three states and six Elks lodges, all in unwavering support of Special Olympics Connecticut." Their inspiration? Individuals like Molly and Jerimiah - two SOCT athletes who befriended those who walked and encouraged them from the starting line to the finish. By the end of the journey, the Migration generated over $26,000 in donations for Special Olympics Connecticut!
In addition to this major fundraising effort, the Elks were out in full force at Summer Games, volunteering and presenting athletes with medals at our soccer venue.
As a year-round SOCT Partner Sponsor, sponsor of Unified Sports® in schools and the Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run program, and additionally a sponsor of sporting and special events, the Elks have had an immeasurable impact on the lives of our athletes for 28 years and counting, and have donated over $800,000 to SOCT.
The strong, enduring bond SOCT has with the Connecticut Elks was recently recognized and celebrated at the Elks Association's 2025 National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. SOCT's Sharon Rozum was honored to attend the Convention to showcase the partnership to others across the country and recognize the organization's members for all they do.
