Athlete Participated in First-Ever Special Olympics North America Leadership Congress

Athlete and Global Messenger Nick Cella and his Mentor Gabe Wagstaff of Marrakech, Inc. had the honor of participating in the first‑ever Special Olympics North America Regional Athlete Congress at the Special Olympics Michigan headquarters in Grand Rapids, March 8th - 13th. The event brought together 26 athlete leaders from across the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean for an engaging, interactive experience that focused on leadership training, collaboration, and skill-building, along with personal development, professional growth, and problem-solving. The event also gave athlete leaders the opportunity to share perspectives on issues affecting local programming, while strengthening their influence as leaders within the Special Olympics movement.

Dick's Sporting Goods Sponsors Unified Cornhole Tournament

Teammates from Waterbury participated in a city-wide Unified Sports® Cornhole Tournament sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods. The event was hosted by Wilby High School and took place on April 16th.

Athletes' Night Out with the Wolfpack Made Possible By Rotary Club

Special Olympics Connecticut athletes and Global Messengers enjoyed a Wolfpack hockey game and night out together at People's Bank Arena in Hartford on April 15th. Their attendance was made possible by generous  members of Southern Connecticut Rotary, District 7980.

Global Messengers Honor Knights of Columbus Honoree

Global Messengers Brett Glaser, Brian Drexler, Jordan Lopez, John Woods, Wendi Little, and Alicia Rostkowski joined Special Olympics Connecticut President and CEO Mike Mason in attending the Knights of Columbus' Blessed Michael McGivney Award Banquet at the Aqua Turf Club. The group attended the event to honor award recipient and Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly. The Knights of Columbus organization is a long-standing partner to Special Olympics and a year-round Partner Sponsor of Special Olympics Connecticut.

Hopkins Students, Special Olympics Athletes Come Together on the Dance Floor

Awesome students at the Hopkins School in New Haven hosted their annual dance for our athletes - and everyone had a blast! This year it was the "Go Bananas Dance" and the event featured "dancing, music, friends, and fun!" "The students did an amazing job with decorating and providing fun giveaways for those who attended," said SOCT's Sara Pierson.
