From powerful Opening Ceremonies to unforgettable medal moments, this is more than a competition - it's a statewide celebration of inclusion, determination, and community. This annual event brings together athletes and Unified partners along with their coaches to compete after months of dedicated training. They proudly represent their Local Programs and communities while showcasing determination, sportsmanship, and pride as they vie for ribbons and medals across multiple sports.

The 2026 Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games will feature competition across a variety of individual and team sports, hosted at premier collegiate and community venues throughout Connecticut. Events will take place during scheduled competition days, with athletes participating in well-organized, divisioned contests designed to ensure fair play and meaningful competition for all.

Healthy Athletes® at Summer Games

As part of the Summer Games, Special Olympics Connecticut will once again offer free health screenings, education, and wellness resources through its nationally recognized Special Olympics Healthy Athletes® program. Licensed medical professionals, healthcare practitioners, and students will volunteer their time to support athletes’ overall health and well-being, helping identify unmet health needs, providing guidance to support lifelong wellness, and supporting follow-up care through referrals to healthcare providers. All athletes are welcome, even if they aren't competing at Summer Games, and every athlete who attends will be entered into a prize raffle.

Saturday, June 6  9:00AM - 4:00PM; Sunday, June 7  8:30AM - 1:00PM

Location: Southern Connecticut State University - Michael J. Adanti Student Center

Services provided: free screenings, Rx glasses, sports goggles, orthotics, socks, custom mouthguards, fluoride treatments, & more

Raffle prize options: Amazon Kindle, Lake Compounce Season Pass, Yard Goats Tickets, Noise Cancelling Headphones, Gift Cards, & more

Massage Therapy will also be offered: Saturday, June 6  10:00AM - 2:00PM; Sunday, June 7  10:00AM - 1:00PM

  • Friday, June 5: Opening Ceremonies

    • 6:30PM Pre-Show, 7:00PM Start

    • Featuring: the 1500M run medal event, a flyover, the 102nd Army Band, LETR Final Leg, and music by the band D’Pew

Volunteer at Summer Games

Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics Connecticut's Summer Games. We have a variety of ways you can help make this event come to life, leading up to and during competition. This event is open to the public and volunteers, spectators, and supporters are always welcome. We especially need help: June 5 at Developmental Swimming, June 6 at Cycling, June 6 and June 7 at Soccer and Tennis, all held at Hamden Hall at 225 Skiff St. in Hamden.
