Meet Cara Manforte is Head of Delegation (HOD) for Team Connecticut going to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games! Cara resides in Wolcott and works as a special education teacher. She has been involved in Special Olympics for 25 years and has coached alpine skiing, bocce, powerlifting, softball, track and field, and volleyball.

Cara was named Teacher of the Year at her school and has received an Unsung Hero Award at Special Olympics Connecticut’s Annual Awards Dinner.
This will be Cara’s third Special Olympics USA Games and being a leader of the team means the world to her. Previously, she was a track and field coach at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games and Head of Delegation for the 2022 USA Games.
“I love and respect what these Games mean to our athletes and their families,” she says.
