Ted Pocwierz

Medical Team

Woodbridge, CT

Theodore “Ted” Pocwierz will be going to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games as a medical volunteer. Ted lives in Woodbridge and is an Assistant Fire Chief for the Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department. He also serves as an Air Operations Senior Manager at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. Ted has been volunteering for Special Olympics for more than 25 years and says that it has opened his eyes to how the athletes embrace life to the fullest!

During his time with Special Olympics, Ted has had to learn to help athletes overcome medical challenges. He is most proud to see them overcome obstacles and win medals.

In addition to Special Olympics and his work, Ted is the lead builder for the local high school theater department and scout leader. Ted is also an avid golfer who has hit a hole in one!

Ted admires his father the most because he worked several jobs to support his family and always found time to volunteer. “He taught me that giving your time was often better than giving money to something,” says Ted.

Ted is honored to be on the Medical Team for the 2026 USA Games and is excited to support the athletes. To prepare, he is learning about the athletes who will be traveling with the team so he can support them and help them deal with being away from their family or friends.
