This is my story about being part of Special Olympics.

I started with Special Olympics when I was eight years old.  I started with the Summer Games.  That was swimming, the long jump, and track and field. Then in the 80’s, I started to play basketball, softball, and soccer.  In the year 2000, I asked if we could start a floor hockey team.  We did.  By the year 2004 we came in first place. And every year after that we won first place.

I also do fundraising for the Hartford team. I go to Texas every year to raise money.  My brother and his friends donate to the Connecticut Special Olympics.  I usually raise $1,000 dollars.

Over the years, my family has played with me in the Special Olympics. They have played many sports on the Unified teams.

I have met a lot of new friends that took part in the games. They have all helped me to be a better player and a better person. My best friend in Special Olympics is Albert Lognin.  We have been friends since I was eighteen years old. We always have a lot of fun together.

I became a Global Messenger in November of 2022.  I  love being a Global Messenger.  Going to the Tip-A-Cop fundraisers makes me feel happy because we raise money for Special Olympics and I get to meet many different people.  At the Zoom meetings, people have good ideas.

Being a part of Special Olympics is one of my favorite memories.
