Hi, my name is Chelsea, and I want to talk about how important it is to stay hydrated. Drinking enough water every day is one of the simplest and most important things we can do for our health. In this blog entry, I’ll share why hydration is so important, how it can improve your health, and some easy tips to help you drink more water.

Hydration means drinking enough fluids to help our body function properly. Water makes up about 60% of our body weight, so it's essential for our organs, tissues, and cells. It’s important because it helps you not become dehydrated. It also helps when taking medicine for your body.  I feel better and less tired when I drink water. Water keeps my skin smooth and not too dry. Water makes me feel refreshed and less dry because my medicine makes me feel dry. It helps me with taking medication and digesting food.

Drinking water is not just about thirst—it’s about keeping our body systems in balance and feeling our best.

I stay hydrated by drinking enough water throughout the day. For me, a typical hydration routine looks like this. I have a morning iced matcha with cocao and a full glass of water. I have a pink reusable water bottle that I fill up everyday and night. I drink water so I don’t get dehydrated or a headache. Water with food makes me less anxious. I also enjoy drinking peppermint tea and iced matcha because the matcha in the morning keeps me awake and regular. Peppermint Tea at night helps me to relax my stomach and go to sleep.

When I drink enough water, I feel great. My matcha is iced and keeps me alert. It wakes me up. I am able to do a workout at the Edge on the bike. I feel happy.

If you're struggling to drink enough water, here are some helpful tips:

  1. Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning.
  2. Set a goal to fill your water bottle until you drink it three times today.
  3. Add flavors to your water like peach and strawberries to make it more enjoyable.
  4. Try eating foods with high water content like watermelon and strawberries. You can make a smoothie with watermelon in the summer by freezing some fruit to put into your water.
  5. Carry a water bottle with you, you can decorate your water bottle and take it with you everywhere to help you remember to drink throughout the day

Remember, staying hydrated is essential for everyone, including people with intellectual disabilities. By drinking enough water, you can feel better, stay energized, and improve your overall health. Don’t forget to drink water every day to keep your body and mind functioning at their best! Water keeps you hydrated and feeling good throughout the day. Making a habit to drink a lot of water every day until you work up to three water canisters a day. Put on stickers to decorate the water bottle to your style.
