Sean Bogart

Swimming Athlete

North Haven, CT

Sean Bogart is an athlete who will compete in swimming at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Sean is 40 years old and lives in North Haven. He works at Haven Beer Company of Hamden and at the Shubert Theater in New Haven. He got involved playing Unified Sports® in high school and has been a part of the organization ever since - for 25 years.

Sean has trained and competed in basketball, floor hockey, flag football, golf, and swimming, and also served as a Global Messenger. He competed in the triathlon at the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games in Princeton, NJ where he and his teammate, Troy, won bronze medals!

Sean says that Special Olympics has changed his life in many ways. He says it helps him stay more physically fit and motivates him to be better no matter the challenge.

“The most important aspect, however, is demonstrating to the world that I am here, and given the chance, I am able,” says Sean.

The biggest obstacle for Sean has been changing the mindset of people who still think that individuals with disabilities are not meaningful contributors to society. However, through the support of his family, friends, and Special Olympics, he has taught others to think differently about people with special needs.

Sean is the “fun uncle” to three nieces and three nephews and proud owner of two dogs, Skipper and Blanche. Sean is a great dancer who loves photography and is good with technology.

To prepare for competition at the USA Games, Sean has been eating healthy, exercising, and practicing hard.
