Selina Derungs

Simsbury, CT

Selina Derungs is an athlete who will compete in swimming at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Selina is 43 years old and lives in Simsbury. She works as a cashier at Goodwill in Avon - a position she’s held for 11 years. 

Selina says that Special Olympics has been a huge part of her life and it has helped her become a team player. She is most proud of all the beautiful medals she has earned over the years. In addition to participating in Special Olympics, Selina enjoys photography, cooking, and caring for her two cats, Ella and LiIly. In the last two years, she has become a great aunt to two nieces. 

This is Selina’s third time participating in a major Special Olympics event. She participated in the 2014 USA Games in New Jersey and the 2015 World Games in Los Angeles - competing in swimming both times. 

Selina is honored to be a member of Team Connecticut for the 2026 USA Games and is making sure she’s prepared by attending swim practices twice a week.
