Ivy Fleming

Unified Basketball Coach

Oxford, CT

Ivy Fleming is a Unified Sports® basketball coach and member of Team Connecticut for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Ivy lives in Oxford and works as a Paraeducator and as an Assistant Coach for the Special Olympics Unified Sports® program at Oxford High School.

“Being involved in Special Olympics through Unified Sports® has given me a sense of joy, belonging, and purpose that I have not experienced before,” says Ivy.

What makes her proudest as a coach is seeing participants smile and have fun. ”It’s an amazing feeling to see the whole class engaged, laughing, and working together,” she says.

Ivy makes it a priority to support her students by attending various events they are involved in, such as sporting events, performing arts shows, and awards ceremonies. It is very important to her that her students feel seen, valued, and encouraged both in and beyond the classroom.

Ivy loves using her creativity to decorate and come up with ideas for events like themed games, escape rooms, and even haunted houses. “Whether it’s Halloween, a birthday, or a school celebration, I enjoy going all out to make things fun, engaging, and memorable for everyone involved,” shares Ivy. Ivy enjoys bringing people together and spreading joy through a little extra magic and imagination.

“I feel incredibly proud and honored to have the opportunity to attend the Special Olympics USA Games in 2026. It is bringing together the best of what our country stands for,” said Ivy.
