Meet Team CT's Unified Basketball Team
Our Unified basketball squad from Oxford High School is more than just a team - they’re a true reflection of inclusion, teamwork, and athletic heart. This team participates in Special Olympics Unified Sports® - a program that operates year-round in schools and communities across Connecticut, pairing teammates with and without intellectual disabilities. With student athletes working together on and off the court, this team brings energy, friendship, and community to the spotlight. As they step into the national arena, they’re not just playing games - they’re making a statement about the power of sport to unite, uplift, and transform.
This group is no stranger to the national spotlight. Oxford High School was recently named to the 2025 ESPN Honor Roll, an elite list of nationally recognized Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® that have demonstrated a commitment to inclusion by meeting 10 national standards. Also, Coach Jennifer LaCapra was honored as 2020 Coach of the Year by Special Olympics North America.
