Shayan Ghavami

Oxford, CT

Shayan Ghavami is a Unified Sports® teammate and member of the Oxford High School Unified basketball team going to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Shayan is 16 years old and has been involved in Special Olympics Unified Sports® for the past year. He says the experience has “changed his life in huge ways.” 

Shayan has been actively involved in competitive swimming over the past several years, and this experience has extended well beyond recreational participation. This year has been a very successful season for him, during which he earned the Most Valuable Swimmer award and contributed the highest number of points to his high school team.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Shayan has also performed strongly academically, earning Honor Roll status and maintaining a solid GPA.

Shayan is very proud of how much he has accomplished. He admires his family and friends the most because they all believe in him.  

To prepare for his first USA Games, Shayan is spending extra time training with his teammates at Oxford High School.
