Alex Rojas
Unified Softball Athlete
New Britain, CT
Meet Alex Rojas, an athlete from New Britain who is a member of Team Connecticut and the Unified Sports® softball team going to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Alex is 40 years old and has been involved in Special Olympics since 2001. He has played basketball, floor hockey, and soccer in addition to softball. This will be Alex’s second USA Games - he was a member of the Unified basketball team at the 2006 USA Games in Iowa.
Alex says that he has built lifelong relationships during his time as a Special Olympics athlete. His biggest obstacle is being frustrated when he feels like he is not playing well. However, he is most proud of when he focuses and listens to his coaches and Unified partners and greatly admires them.
In addition to participating in Special Olympics, Alex enjoys editing videos on the computer and drawing anime.
“I’m excited to play in a new level of competition and play on a team of people that I’ve played against in the past,” says Alex. To prepare for the Games, Alex practices every weekend with his team.
